LSB Junior Board Warms Hearts and Homes

LSB Junior Board Warms Hearts and Homes

The Logansport Savings Bank Junior Board, comprised of 16 dedicated high school juniors and seniors from Logansport, Lewis Cass, Pioneer, and Caston High Schools, successfully launched a heartwarming service project this winter season called "Warm Up Cass County." The initiative invited donations of new and gently used warm winter clothing items from peers, schools, and communities across Cass County. The response was overwhelming, with hundreds of items donated, including over 100 pairs of brand new Bombas® socks.

The project also garnered attention from former Logansport High School alumnus Megan Mykrantz, who, along with her husband Eric Watson, owns two Plato's Closet stores in West Virginia. Eric and Megan learned about the project via social media as they were looking for a way to give back locally right here in Logansport. Inspired by the Junior Board's efforts, they coordinated an additional donation to the Warm Up Cass County drive, effectively doubling the collected items. These donations will be distributed through the Emmaus Thrift Store and the local Street Outreach Program, which Emmaus Mission Center helps to facilitate.

In addition to the clothing drive, the Junior Board raised over $1,300 at the 21st annual Cass County Basketball Tournament. Logansport Savings Bank matched this amount dollar for dollar, resulting in a total of $2,625.00 presented to Emmaus Mission Center along with the clothing items, just in time for the holidays.

"We are incredibly proud of our Junior Board for their dedication and hard work in making 'Warm Up Cass County' a success,” said Chad Higgins, President and CEO of Logansport Savings Bank. “It takes a lot of work and collaboration to make a project like this possible. Watching them come together, both for planning purposes and at the Cass County Basketball Tournament where they had fun asking for donations and additional community support, was one of the best parts of their project. Their initiative and the community's generosity have made a significant impact, and we are honored to support such a meaningful cause."

Jason Mitchell, Executive Director of Emmaus Mission Center, shared his gratitude. "To see such a wonderful level of collaboration and generosity from the Junior Board, Logansport Savings Bank and other community members has been amazing,” he said. “Logansport Savings Bank has been a longtime supporter of Emmaus’ mission in many different ways and we are truly grateful for their commitment to our community. This blessing will help to make a positive impact in the lives of our local friends and neighbors in need, particularly during the cold winter months.”
