A Century of Community Banking: Logansport Savings Bank Celebrates 100 Years
In the spring of 1925, as Logansport was growing and evolving, a group of forward-thinking individuals established what would become a cornerstone of our community's financial foundation. On March 31st of that year, the Logansport Building and Loan Association received its charter, marking the beginning of what we now know as Logansport Savings Bank.
Today, as we celebrate our 100th anniversary, we're humbled to be part of an exclusive group. Less than half a percent of all U.S. businesses reach the century mark – that's fewer than 1,000 companies nationwide. This remarkable achievement isn't just about longevity; it's about the countless lives we've touched and the communities we've helped build along the way.
A Journey of Growth and Adaptation
From our modest beginnings as a building and loan association, we've grown into a full-service community bank serving Logansport, Cass County, and the entire north-central Indiana region. Our evolution has been guided by a simple principle: understanding and meeting the unique needs of our community.
This commitment to growth continues today. As we celebrate our centennial year, we're expanding our downtown Logansport campus and preparing to open a second branch in Peru, Indiana. These projects represent more than just physical expansion – they're a testament to our dedication to local service and our vision for the future.
Banking with a Personal Touch
At Logansport Savings Bank, we believe community banking is about more than transactions – it's about relationships. We take pride in knowing our customers by name, understanding their dreams, and helping turn those dreams into reality. Whether it's helping a family buy their first home, supporting a small business owner's expansion plans, or providing stable careers for our employees, we're invested in the success of our community members.
Our commitment extends beyond banking services. Through donations, volunteerism, and board service, we actively support local schools, community programs, and charitable organizations. This isn't just corporate responsibility – it's being a good neighbor and community partner.
Celebrating a Century Together
We think you’ll agree, a milestone like this deserves more than just a single day of celebration. Throughout 2025, we're planning various events and activities to commemorate our centennial year. We'll be sharing stories from our past, celebrating present achievements, and looking forward to future opportunities. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to stay updated on all the festivities and join in the celebration.
We're also collecting pieces of our shared history. If you have any memorabilia related to the bank – photographs, newspaper articles, postcards, letters, or other items – we'd love to include them in our celebration. These pieces help tell the story of our journey and the community we've grown with over the past century.
Looking Forward
As Chad Higgins, our President and CEO, reflects: "Being able to celebrate our 100th anniversary is exciting, yet humbling. It has taken dedicated leadership, a strong commitment to our community, and a lot of resilience and creativity to endure through changes across the banking industry, the economy, and around the world."
While we're proud of our history, we're even more excited about our future. Under the leadership of our Board Chairman Tony Firmani and our entire team, we're positioning ourselves for continued growth and innovation while maintaining the personal touch that has defined us for a century.
Thank you for being part of our story. Whether you've been with us for generations or are just getting to know us, we're grateful for the trust you've placed in Logansport Savings Bank. Here's to the next 100 years of serving our community!
This milestone celebration would not have been possible without the help and collaboration of many individuals, businesses, and organizations who assisted us along the way.
